Abhishek Dey
Abhishek Dey (b. 1985) has received his Bachelors in Visual Art from The Indian College of Art and Draftsmanship, Rabindra Bharati University in 2007. With a very direct approach to his paintings, the artist declares- “I paint and draw for the sole purpose of viewing”. He does not wish for them to bear any implied social or political meanings, and concentrates on ideas that portray the common, the simple and the regular in his distinct style. Therefore the visuals take centre-stage, and even the simple is transformed to something striking and captivating. In 2015, Dey was awarded the All India Gold Award (Painting) from the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation.
