Amit Bhar (b. 1973) is an acclaimed artist from Hooghly, West Bengal. Bhar has a distinct visual language that he identifies with Romanticism rather than Realism, depicting idealised subjects.The Banaras ghats, a graceful woman, a saint or a temple emerge out of a hazy background and reveal themselves to the viewer in the twilight environment of his artworks. Bhar has exhibited in several shows around the country, and his works are a part of collections in India, U.S.A., Switzerland, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, Italy, London, Dubai, Amsterdam, and Canada amongst others.
