Kiran B

Kiran Kumari (b. 1962) has received her training in woodcut under Graphics Professor Sri Sudhakar Reddy, Fine Arts Department, Andhra University, Vizag. Her artworks are inspired by observations of her hometown being webbed into, and cogged down by the effects of urbanization- multistoried buildings with narrow streets between them, wide main roads with hoardings, electricity and light poles with mangled wires. These visions of urbanization stand as a contrast between the few elite who can afford the luxury of an organized world, as opposed to the neglected masses who live in an unorganized state. Through her artworks she hopes to find beauty in life despite these changes brought on by urbanization. Kiran has participated in exhibitions in Indianapolis and San Fransisco, U.S.A.; New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Chandigarh and Hyderabad, among others.
