Partha Shaw
Partha Shaw (b. 1971) received his B.F.A. and M.F.A. from the Kala-Bhavan, Vishva Bharati, Kolkata (1992, 1994). His abstract works are meta-landscapes of the sights and scenes Shaw imbibed growing up in the bustling Kolkata and schooling in Shantiniketan. The artist also deviates from this abstract path, adding elements of realism to his works which has come to be known as “Figurative Symbolism”. Shaw has been a part of exhibitions across the country and has been awarded the Nirod Naran Memorial Prize (1996) and the Award for Painting from the Academy of Arts, Kolkata (1993).
