Sohan Jakhar (b. 1978) completed his B.F.A. and M.F.A. in Painting from the Rajasthan School of Art, Jaipur. His striking works use vibrant graphic elements along with realistic depictions of everyday street vendors with their various wares. The juxtaposition of these scenes along with the background that is bursting with colour, makes for intriguing compositions that welcome the viewer to examine further. Jakhar has held solo shows in New Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Hong Kong and Dubai; and has been a part of groups shows in several other cities. He has received the Captain Durga Prasad Choudhary Memorial Award, Jaipur, among many other recognitions, and his works are a part of collections in Switzerland, U.S.A., U.K., SIngapore, Hong Kong, Netherlands, Canada and others.
