Nandita Mukand is a Singapore-based multidisciplinary visual artist. She has received her B.F.A. (Fist class Honours) Goldsmiths, College of London via LASALLE college of the Arts, Singapore and is also an alumna of IIM- Calcutta. Her work draws upon the natural world and the sensuousness of materiality to reconnect with a spirituality that has been largely sidelined by contemporary urban society and its belief systems. The artist writes, “Spending time alone in forest areas, experiencing and reflecting upon growth and decay in nature led me to ponder deeply the cycles of life and death, the interconnection of all life forms and the resilience of life forces over forces of destruction.”. Most recently she has been selected for the 2017 Orebro Biennial in Sweden. In 2016 she was one of four artists selected internationally to exhibit based on a month long residency on the theme of nature and art at the Fundacio L’Olivar in Spain. She was invited by the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery, Australia to exhibit as their first international artist-in-residence in 2015 and for a residency by the Bilpin International Ground Creative Initiatives (BigCI), Australia in 2014.
